Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.

History of RMCC

The history of Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel (RMCC) is a story of the mercy, grace and faithfulness of Jesus Christ expressed through the life of an ever-growing body of believers.

“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:9-11

In 1990 the Lord used a handful of people to start a small prayer meeting in northwest Calgary. This little prayer group soon evolved into a bible study with 15 believers.

In the fall of 1991 the group formed Rocky Mountain Bible Church.

Over the course of the next four years, the church relied heavily on the strength of the Lord as they moved around frequently, meeting in a variety of locations throughout the city and often struggling to rent and retain appropriate space for the ministry offices. Throughout it all, the small but growing group of believers learned the importance of trusting Jesus Christ for everything.

They also learned more about God’s unique plan for RMCC. It was during those formative years of renting space and fluctuating church attendance that the Lord revealed His desire that this new church be focused on the verse-by-verse teaching of the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Glen threw out the church growth strategies and looked to the book of Acts for God’s wisdom. Since then Pastor Glen has kept his focus on Acts 2:42 as a model for the church. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in prayers.

In 1994 this commitment to God’s Word and the Holy Spirit brought the young church into contact Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa. Rocky Mountain Bible Church joined in fellowship with Calvary Chapel and became Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel (RMCC). The fellowship of Calvary Chapel is non-denominational, yet made up of more than 3,000 churches worldwide. While RMCC continued to be autonomous, fellowship with the other Calvary Chapel churches immediately provided new opportunities for growth, edification and powerful prayer support.
